Sometimes you just need to escape.
Escape to a faraway land filled with wine.
In all seriousness, I don’t think I’ve ever been to Langley. Maybe once when I was a little girl. Sarah from Vancouver, we love you gave me a ring and asked if I wanted to be her date to the wine show down — with a squeal and a ‘what do I wear’… I was in!
Our tour began in downtown Vancouver, just in front of Canada Place. We hopped on a bus and we were off to Langley. We had a quick pit stop en route (needed to pick up more folks!) and we had an opportunity to meet the mayor of Langley… Jack Froese. Pretty cool – and he seemed pretty legit to boot!
Next up, we were off to taste wine!
The tour included:
- Township 7 Vineyards & Winery
- Domaine de Chaberton Estate Winery
- Vista D’Oro Farms & Winery
- Blackwood Lane Vineyards & Winery
- Backyard Vineyards
Each winery had a different flair and throughout the day, we tasted 18 wines. It may have been more. I may have lost count. ;)
A few of my favourites from the day…
Best Red: F Bomb – Vista D’Oro (soon to be released!)
Best White: Siegerrebe – Chamberton
Best Bubbly: Blanc de Noir Brut – Backyard
I had absolutely no idea we had an ‘Okanagan wine region’ in our backyard. Campbell Valley wine region is close to the city (30-45 mins), but it feels like it’s an eternity away. Our 6 hours in Langley was the perfect recharge.
Thank you to Jelly Marketing and Darian Kovacs for hosting the crew. Already planning my return.
There’s a wine called F Bomb? OMG, I MUST get some.
It’s amazing. Go stop in and visit Patrick. You won’t regret it!!
