Fall Events in Vancouver

Vancouver is a busy city. Like really busy. (!!!) There is absolutely no reason to be bored — and it totally irks me when people whine there is nothing to do. Forget about the mass amount of events, there are also restaurants to check out, a seawall to run, parks to hang out in, coffee shops to lounge in and a huge amount of culture to soak up!

Over the last year, I’ve managed to gain a pulse on events that touch women entrepreneurs, marketing, leadership, small business and health/fitness. Some of that’s been due to being connected online, but the majority has been all about ‘who you know.’ I’ve been blessed to meet a ton of outstanding ‘change the world’ types in this city. Most are hyperactive involved and every day I’m sent, event after event after event. {Exhausted just thinking about it}. This morning I compiled a list of all the events I’ve been sent lately  and sent it off to about 100 movers and shakers.

Thought I would share some of them on my blog as well. So here you go — best of the best events taking place in town this fall:

The scary thing is that — this list will grow — and grow and grow over the coming weeks. Attend them all if you’re looking to turn into a psychocase. Otherwise pick and choose the ones that align with your interests. Another great place to keep on top of events is NetworkingInVan.com and Miss604.com.

Today is a busy day for events that fall under my interests. The day started with Innovating Differently: Women, Entrepreneurship & Technology. This afternoon is Startup Canada’s Grand Finale and the launch of Women 2.0’s Founder Friday. Wishing each of the respective organizations a smooth sailing day!

PS – I have 2 tickets up for grabs to tonight’s Pecha Kucha at 7pm. If you want the tickets send me an email!

The Girl Effect

Today marks the first day of the Girl Effect blogging campaign.

What does this mean?

Tara Mohr is leading the charge and we’re on a mission to educate the planet on why we need to pay attention to girls! From October 4 to 11, 2011, men and women from around the world will be creating awareness on the Girl Effect.

Want to know more?

“The Girl Effect is a movement driven by organizations, individuals, and girl champions around the globe, harnessing the unique potential of adolescent girls to end poverty for themselves and the world. It is not about raising the profile of an organization or even raising money for a particular program. It’s about raising girls’ voices – it’s that simple.”
