Music Matters

This weekend was incredible. On Saturday I headed up to Squamish to volunteer with Keep A Breast Canada’s education team at LIVE at Squamish. The lineup for the music festival included: The Tragically Hip, City & Colour, Mother Mother, Chromeo, The Sheepdogs, Lights, LP, The Airborne Toxic Event, Wintersleep, Mark Farina and more. A total of 40 artists/bands and 20,000 people — over 2 and a half days.

The plan was that I would help Keep A Breast Canada for few hours each afternoon and then get to take in the festival at night. A few friends were up for the weekend — and Miss Katie S working the event — so I knew it would be a gooder.

The weekend flew by and before you knew it, Sunday night came along and Katie talked me into staying an extra night. Best decision.

The band that I was most looking forward to was City & Colour. Swoon. We headed over to the Bacardi Canada beer gardens to soak up Dallas and the boys over a few glasses of wine. City & Colour are the type of band that make my heart full. Warm fuzzy full. They played a great set on the Stawamus stage — and then we headed over to the Garibaldi stage for the final artist of the night, DJ Mark Farina. We danced our hearts out in the rain and had one hell of a good time.

A few hours later we ended up at the after party where DJ Henry Mah filled the room with solid beats in preparation for the mighty Mark Farina closing down the night. Music, dancing {and a few yoga moves} consumed the evening. City & Colour joined us for the after party and it was great to have some one on one time with Dallas and the band — such a solid crew!

The party continued until the wee hours. Katie and I woke up this morning to mighty big headaches, pleading with each other for food and caffeine. The conclusion: shut the curtains — and wow, that was a fun night.

Last night I had an opportunity to get to know a few incredible people. Here’s what I know…

People come into your life for a reason, season or lifetime.

Yep they do.

Everything happens for a reason.

Yep it does.

Happiness is the ultimate goal.

Figure out what you need — and just be. You deserve to — be.

Thank you to LIVE at Squamish and Brand Live Group for an incredible weekend.

Headed to bed with a full heart. Until next time… xx
